For the majority of clients, the first session will be an initial assessment. During this session I will acquire as much information from you as possible including what the overall reason for coming to counseling is, mental health and/or substance use history, home life including family relations, and more. From this session I will get an overall better understanding of your individual situation and what you want to get out of counseling. Each follow up session will be up to 50 minutes in length. During these individual counseling sessions, we will discuss your progress from our last meeting and work through anything that may be preventing you from reaching your goals.
Counseling is different for everyone and this includes the number of sessions until termination. Depending on the issues at hand and the goals that you set to reach, the number of counseling sessions could be anywhere from 5 to 20 or even more. This number is completely based on the motivation and consistency of working hard each week both in the counseling session and in your daily life.

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. This policy indicates that if you cancel an appointment with a greater notice than 24-hours then there will be no penalty and no amount of money will be charged to your account. However, if you cancel an appointment with less than a 24-hour notice (before 5:00pm on Friday for a Monday appointment) then the full amount of the counseling session will be charged to your account.
