Chip Helton, NCC, LCMHC
Hello! My name is Chip Helton and I provide counseling services to adults and adolescents who are experiencing concerns in their mental health. It is my goal for each client to live fully on their own standards, rather than living life through their diagnosis. My counseling sessions provide a safe place where anyone can share their thoughts in a private setting so you can reach your goals. My work is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness. I draw from each of these therapeutic approaches to find a style that works best for the individual client. At the forefront of my approach is an open and trusting relationship between therapist and client. This relationship is necessary for a positive therapeutic outcome.
I received my Bachelor of Arts from Brevard College in Psychology. After receiving my degree, I enrolled in a graduate program at North Carolina Central University where I received a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling. I completed my practicum and internship at a recovery center and have specialized training in the treatment of substance use disorders. Upon graduation, I received my National Certified Counselor (NCC) certificate, along with my Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and my Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS). I am qualified to work with adults and adolescents with any mental health and/or substance use concerns.
